Student Literacy in a Digital World - Capitol Hill Briefing

A few weeks, ago NCTE invited me to be part of a teacher panel for a Capitol Hill briefing on Student Literacy in a Digital World.  The goal of the event was to share our classroom experiences with Hill staffers and share some of the work we are doing around technology in education.  The other two panelist came from the elementary and middle school setting and we had a terrific discussion around the role technology plays in elevating good pedagogy at all levels of education.

Some thoughts/questions I have from for today's event:
  • There is terrific work being done by teachers around the country in small, isolated pockets - how do we share these experiences and learn from each other?
  • How do we make sure each student has equitable access to technology at school and home?
  • Hill staffers are incredibly smart, curious and generous and want more opportunities to hear ideas from teachers' perspective.
Thank you to everyone who worked hard to put together today's event.  Special thanks to NCTE for the invitation.
